What is a Montessori School?

What-isA Montessori school is a special place for the child to learn to work in the building of themselves. We call everything we do here work, defined as “purposeful activity”. Whether children are painting or working with mathematical materials, they know their activity has value. The idea is central the Montessori environment. Montessori activities are designed to be fulfilling as well as educational. Most of these activities are done individually, so that children can move at their own pace. Multi aged groupings promote an atmosphere where children can help and learn from each other. Community life is also an important component of the Montessori approach. The children become contributing members of their social group. Though much has been said about the academic achievements of Montessori children, the value lies in the self discipline and love of learning that children achieve.
